MESSAGE FROM YOUR MP.

This week is back-to-school week for our kids, and I know a lot of parents like me have tons of questions about back-to-school. Not only parents, but our children and their teachers are also concerned. To address our concerns, our government is committing up to $2 billion to support the provinces and territories to ensure the safety of students and staff throughout the school year. Our Government has also announced an additional $112 million in funding for First Nations to support community-based measures to ensure a safe return to school for children on reserve.
These innovative supports will provide the funding needed to ensure the safety of students and staff members throughout the school year. This can include things like adapted learning spaces, improved air ventilation, increased hand sanitation and hygiene, or purchases of personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies.

SUPPORT FOR BUSINESS OWNERS AND ENTREPRENEURS IN BLACK COMMUNITIES.
Business owners and entrepreneurs from Black communities make a significant contribution to our community in Ottawa-Vanier and across the country.
Many continue to face systemic barriers, preventing them from having equal economic participation and success, and have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. To make access to support and opportunities more equitable, our government is committing up to $221 million in partnership with Canadian financial institutions, for the first ever Black Community Entrepreneurship Program in Canada. This investment includes:

Our government continues and will continue to support black entrepreneurs and create opportunities for black-led businesses to recover from the economic impacts of COVID-19 and grow in the months and years ahead.

SUPPORT FOR SENIORS IMPACTED BY COVID-19
While the COVID-19 pandemic has affected Canadians of all ages and backgrounds, fear of infection and guidelines to isolate are leaving older Canadians feeling particularly anxious and lonely. which is why our government announced more than 1,000 new projects that community organizations across the country will implement to support our seniors during the pandemic.
The projects are funded through the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) and will offer virtual activities such as training on how to use personal equipment, virtual computer literacy classes and exercise classes to bring seniors together safely during the pandemic.
We will continue to take concrete action to support Canadian seniors throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and help keep them safe as we move forward with the restart of our economy.

SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES.
Many of our businesses have been affected by the covid-19 pandemic, particularly small local businesses. I encourage you to buy local in order to continue to support our Ottawa-Vanier businesses.
