Program New Horizons
I hope you are having a wonderful summer.
On August 1st, 2023, begins the New Horizons Program that funds organizations with senior-inclusive projects.
Organizations will have a total of six weeks to submit their applications, starting from August 1st to September 14th, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST). You can find more information on the government website. click here
Ottawa-Vanier Council of Seniors
We announced the first-ever Ottawa-Vanier Seniors Council, a community volunteer opportunity for those over the age of 50.
Make your voice heard on current political issues in Ottawa-Vanier and across Canada. Ottawa-Vanier Seniors Council will give you the opportunity to learn more about Canada's political process and, more importantly, to get involved in your community.

Ottawa-Vanier community BBQ
Come join us for our Ottawa-Vanier community BBQ on August 12, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Vanier Richelieu Community Center, 300 avenue des Pères Blanc.
Canada Worker Benefit
The CWB is paid on the last week of July. Canada worker benefit (CWB) is a refundable tax credit to help individual and families who work and earn low income.
The CWB has two parts : a basic amount and a disability supplement. You can claim your CWB when you fill your income tax.
Commemoration of the Korean War Veterans Day
A tribute to the brave Canadiens who served in the Korean war. On July 27, we commemorated the Korean War Veterans Day. From 1950 to 1953 more than 26.000 Canadians left their homes to help the people of South Korea against invasion from North Korea and defended our values of peace, freedom and democracy.
Emancipation Day
On August 1st, we commemorate Emancipation Day. This day is a solemn reminder of the injustices suffered by formerly enslaved people. On March 24, 2021 the House of Commons voted unanimously to recognize August 1st as Emancipation Day officially
Youth Council
If you are between the ages of 16 and 24 and live in Ottawa–Vanier, I encourage you to apply to join the Ottawa-Vanier Youth Council. Come meet your peers, share your advice and opinions, and take part in a unique civic learning experience right here in our community.
