A Word From Your MP
Dear Residents,
Good school year !
As they head back to school, many students are worrying about how they’ll pay tuition and make ends meet. Our government is focused on helping them succeed as they build their careers, and help grow our economy.
Since 2015, the government has made post-secondary education more affordable and accessible. We permanently eliminated interest on Canada Student and Apprentice Loans; doubled Canada Student Grants; doubled the GST tax credit; and provided relief to student renters through the Canada Housing Benefit top-up.
In communities all across Canada this year, young people have been benefitting from the more than 190,000 jobs created for them.
For young people aged 15 to 30, the Canada Summer Jobs programs help employers hire youth. This year alone, the program filled more than 70,000 positions.
Other initiatives include the Student Work Placement Program, which helps post-secondary students find paid experience in their field of study. The Youth Employment and Skills Strategy funds organizations that deliver activities and services to help youth overcome barriers and develop their skill set to join the labor force, helping to level the playing field for the next generation of Canada’s workforce.

International Literacy Day
Everyone has the right to access quality education, regardless of who they are and where they live.
Beyond our borders, Canada is proud to support global efforts to promote literacy through initiatives like the
Global Partnership for Education, which brings us closer to bridging the gap in educational disparities in developing countries, including the gender gap in education.
