A word from your MP

Dear residents,

My colleagues and I have returned to our House duties, which resumed after 2 consecutive constituency weeks. To begin, I paid tribute to the former Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney who passed away on February 29th. I signed the book of condolences to offer my condolences to his family and loved ones. He was an exemplary Canadian who dedicated his life to serving Canadians. Thank you for your service to our country.

Some good news was announced on March 20th. Members of the Canadian Armed Forces will continue to receive primary health, mental health and dental care services at the Canadian Forces Health Services Center in Ottawa-Vanier. The extension of the $100 million partnership between the Department of National Defence and Montfort Hospital was announced with the Honourable Bill Blair and Marie-France Lalonde.

On Friday, March 22nd, I announced that Le College La Cite will receive $3.1 million under FedDev's Regional Innovation Ecosystems program. The investment aims to support francophone businesses in southern Ontario to adapt to or adopt new technologies and undertake bilingual applied research projects with community partners as part of applied technology research initiatives.

The 39th edition of the Sugar Festival has begun! There are events for the whole family until March 24th, so come celebrate at the only urban sugar shack in the world! To kick off the celebrations, I took on the role of judge for the Soup Splash competition, the friendly culinary contest where the best restaurants in Ottawa compete to create a soup based on maple syrup. Congratulations to the winner, the exceptional chef, Mr. Phil Cameron!

Wishing you a great weekend.

Minister Blair announces $100 million investment to renew agreement with Montfort hospital and provide quality health services to Canadian Armed Forces members

Alongside Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence, Marie-France Lalonde, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Defence and Dominic Giroux, president and CEO of Montfort hospital and Santé Montfort, I participated in announcing the extension of the agreement between the Department of National Defence and Santé Montfort until 2032.
This agreement has been in place since 2003, and it has delivered quality health care to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members in the National Capital Region (NCR). Through the agreement, both Canadian Forces Health Services Centre Ottawa and 1 Dental Unit Detachment Ottawa operate in hopital Montfort’s Wing D.

The current contract, originally planned to end in 2026, has been extended by six years to 2032. The federal government is investing over $100 million to extend the contract, bringing the total estimated contract value to $361 million. After this initial extension until 2032, the contract may be further extended by four one-year option periods.

Through this agreement, Montfort hospital will continue to provide dedicated space for the DND/CAF health care team to deliver primary care, comprehensive dental care, mental health, physiotherapy, pharmacy, and limited specialist care to CAF members. Montfort hospital is also contracted to provide surgery, in-patient care, X-ray, specialised clinics, and laboratory services for the CAF.
