On Monday, Ottawa residents went to the polls to elect their new mayor and a new City Council. I want to welcome and congratulate all new and returning council members as well as our new mayor.
I look forward to working more closely with new faces like Mark Sutcliffe, Ottawa’s new mayor-elect, and Stephanie Plante, the new Councillor for Rideau-Vanier. I also look forward to continuing to work with my long-time counterparts and colleagues, Tim Tierney, Councillor for Beacon Hill-Cyrville, and Rawlson King, Councillor for Rideau-Rockcliffe.
I also want to thank and congratulate all the candidates who took the brave step of running in local races. Your efforts have contributed to a stronger democracy in our city by getting people engaged and ready to vote.
With so many fresh faces around the council table, we have an opportunity for new momentum and new styles of collaboration on important issues. Residents in Ottawa–Vanier and throughout the city will be looking for meaningful progress on a number of issues, like growing our supply of affordable housing, improving public transit, and addressing chronic homelessness with effective, housing-first solutions.
But, above all, they will be counting on all levels of government to work together to achieve meaningful action locally, provincially, and federally. I look forward to working with our new mayor and councillors to make that happen.
Ottawa’s businesses have faced numerous challenges in recent years. While business owners and entrepreneurs have adapted and innovated, they need meaningful support and solutions.
I recently sat down with businesses in the ByWard Market to hear about their experiences and learn more about how we can support small and medium businesses in their long-term success. If you are a business owner or entrepreneur in Ottawa–Vanier, I want to hear from you!

Residents celebrated the return of Montreal Road on Saturday, marking the successful completion of the Montreal Road Revitalization Project.
Montréal Road is now fully open and back with significant improvements, like underground hydro lines, new underground plumbing infrastructure, new streetlights, bike lanes, and streetscaping that will improve accessibility for residents and businesses alike. Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make this a reality.

Each year, the Snowflake Breakfast raises thousands of dollars for the Vanier Partage Food Bank, supporting thousands of households in need.
The Snowflake Breakfast will take place on December 2nd, 2022. You can purchase a ticket for yourself, donate a ticket to someone in need, or make a direct donation.
